Borrowed!
It may have something to do with hormones. Or 'growing up'. Or 'struggling to create an identity'. Or 'generally being a teenager'. Maybe all of the above. I have never quite understood why my daughter, armed with tax-collector zeal, lays such self-assured claims on all things mine, or meant to be mine at least, while I am not even allowed to touch her things.
It started with my nude, shimmering lip gloss, and mind you, not just any, the best brand I own. It was her first time with make-up and I reasoned, 'Either this or she will pick out some atrocious, not-for-13-year-olds shade of crimson herself', so it really was the lesser of two evils. But I have never seen that lip gloss, or many others after it, that was borrowed 'just to see how it looks'.
Several years, countless articles of clothing, drastically depleting containers of make-up and no sense of shame later, the matter has stretched far above and beyond a dab of lip tint. Because now, all those silly saris that I so lovingly cherished, dry washed and korpur sachet-ed, are suddenly back in fashion. The soft as butter katans, the broad par-ed muslins, the smoother than silk silks -- yes all of them, they must be had. If only silly mother understood these little silly things.
I can make a compromise and I would, if it was just the odd pashmina here and the rare bottle of nail polish there, but the same goes for virtually all my things. From the white-stone studded hairpin from Aarong (why, pray tell, since you sport that unkempt, ear-length feather cut), to the designer bags from trips abroad (of which there is a grand total of two), to my only pair of heels (did she really have to have my slender feet), to the oversized tees I recently bought for my yet-to-attend yoga classes (to be seen sauntering out on her back with chunky belts across the centre).
I have considered saying no, fantasised about it even. But the high-pitched death moan that tells me how this sari, this very sari, and only this sari, is the lone one that might possibly (but of course never adequately) compensate for that half a pimple on her face, forces me to reconsider. Better a half-cranky daughter at a wedding than a plague-is-upon-me-faced one at home all Friday night long.
I am led to believe teenagers are wired differently from the rest of us -- such that they have a very sorry sense of impulse control indeed. Psychologists assert that so complicated is this unfortunate intellectual dysfunction, that if they believe that that pendant which cost me an arm and a leg is necessary to look good at a friend's sister's friend's holud, then they simply cannot fathom not having that pendant.
How traumatic must these few years be, when they have such little sense of perspective? Not.
On the upside, this unfortunate condition is meant to diminish with age. Or so I am promised. But I am not one to buy into false assurances; for I have seen many a friend's child (yes, sons included) grow well out of their teens and still spend half their time at home engaged in this 'harmless' smuggle. So I am yet to comprehend the exact origins of this thought process, yet to accept raging hormones as causes, and most importantly, yet to discover a way of dealing with its effects.
While I venture on in my quest to understand why my possessions must suffer such regular theft under my own roof, I had best get around to bringing home my next lot of saris from my mother before the next working week begins. I know she doesn't mind, after all, I am only borrowing them.

Waved bob hairstyle

caitlin stasey afi
As the longer bob creeps its way into our 2011 hair trends guide, the question starts to arise: if you go down the path of a shoulder-length bob, how do you keep it interesting and varied? Most of the examples we've seen have leaned to straight, or with a modern take on the 70s-glam blow wave. But here's another trend that's arising as a result of 2011's shoulder-scraping cut: the waved bob.

winter make up tips

As a special holiday gift,  I asked my friend Jean-François to do one of his fantastic makeup tutorials showcasing some winter trends!  I’m a huge fan of his Youtube tutorials and I hope you all are as thrilled as I am to have him join us for this issue of FORA!
In addition, I’ve included a list of essentials that I believe are a MUST in creating your best makeup looks (outside of the makeup colors themselves!)  Holiday season is THE BEST time to cash in on fantastic deals and sets for less at department and drug stores… so you can look naughty OR nice!
Clean, Prepped Skin I can never stress the importance of taking care of your skin enough.  It’s the canvas for every look… with or without makeup! If your skin doesn’t look good, neither will your makeup. Cleanse, Exfoliate, and Moisturize morning and night and you will see a huge difference.  Skincare lines I like are Dermalogica, Clean & Clear, Clarins, and MAC.
Makeup Brushes
Ok, let’s face it.  Those little spongetip applicators that come with the eyeshadow are just… meh.  Ideally, get the best brushes you can afford.  With proper care,  brushes can last you for years!  (I love MAC Cosmetics brushes-they have great sets on sale around the holiday season!! Many drug stores have some decent brushes as well!)  You probably need around 5 or 6 brushes to have what you need to do your whole face:    -powder/blush brush ( a medium size, not too huge)
-small angle brush (for eyeliner and brows)
- medium flat brush (for applying eyeshadows)
-medium teardrop-shaped brush (for blending eyeshadows and doing a crease)
-a lip brush OR a small stiff brush for applying concealer
Eyeshadow Base
Eyeshadow base keeps your eyeshadow on with no creasing or fading for over 12 hours.  I’m not joking!!  It can be worn alone or under powder eyeshadows.
I’d suggest MAC Paints in ‘Bare Canvas’ for lighter/medium skintones and MAC Paint in ‘Bamboom’ for darker skintones.  (The base should be a bit lighter than your skintone, or match it exactly-not darker).  I also like NARS eyeshadow base, and Cover FX Eye Prep.
Mascara
Seriously, why waste time doing your makeup when in an hour you have messy mascara smudges?  Unless you are *actually* going for that Courtney Love/Marilyn Manson look, get a good mascara.  Waterproof doesn’t necessarily mean smudge-proof; if you have oily skin, waterproof may smudge. (they are water-proof, NOT oil-proof.  Oil is what you remove waterproof products with).   Some brands that work well for me are Covergirl Lash Blast, L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara, and Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara.
Peach/Warm Toned Concealer
You may need help choosing your perfect shade, but your concealer should be slightly more peachy and not *too* much lighter than your own skin.  Peachy/warm concealer tones under the eyes help your skin look bright and hide dark circles.  Concealer that is too yellow under the eyes can look ashy.  I like MAC concealers, Cover FX concealer, and the Lise Watier Portfolio Concealer Wheels.
If you have the essentials, you will be able to create hundreds of makeup looks and just pick up one or two colour trends every season!  Now, ready…set…. MAKEUP!!!

Bridal Fashion 2011, Lip Care Makeup Trend 2011

Lip Care Fashion 2011

Lip Care
Lip Care Fashion 2011, Glossy and luscious lips provoke sex appeal.       A smile with brightly colored youthful lips care makeup trend enhances your appearance. They are the most important facial part without decorating whom your makeup is incomplete. Lip makeup has been continuing since very early till today.
Now-a-days many cosmetics are available in the form of sticks, tubes, pencils and liquids in markets. Lips care makeup fashion 2011 application is a  technique.Latest Lips care makeup fashion is perfect if done with a steady hand, some practice and knowledge of the correcting techniques are an added advantage.
Priming & Filling Up with Lipstick
The uneven skin tone can be overcome by filling them with a special base or balancer. Varied colored Lipsticks are used to fill in between the outlines. The choice of color should harmonize with the rest of the make-up and your outfit as well. Soft colors look good on pale skins while darker skins carry off vibrant shades.
Lipsticks contains fatty base to stays firm and solid. They are available in tubes, pots, pencils, and even wands. While selection a color current fashion trends too have an important role.
Use a “lip brush” to fill in lip color of your choice. Blend the “lip liner” and lipstick together with your “lip brush” so that there are no harsh edges. The lipstick must be applied twice. After applying first coat, blot it with two-ply tissue paper by placing the tissue on the mouth and pressing it gently or pressing the tissue paper between the lips care makeup. This absorbs the excess oils and leaves it with matte waxes. After blotting reapply the “lip color“. This procedure keeps it stay longer.

Men's spring 2011 fashion trends: key looks

Men's motorcycle fashion

It's a trend that's in for women in spring 2011, and visual elements of the motorcycle look are also in for men. Spearheaded by a number of design houses, including Burberry, the main element of this men's trend is obviously the motorcycle jacket. For more inspiration on the trend take a look at the men's motorcycle fashion guide, which goes into some detail about the differences of what's in for men versus women.
tom ford suit
Double breasted Tom Ford suits with pointed / peak lapels
f there's one cut that I'm glad I've been able to return to my wardrobe it's the modern, double-breasted suit. Those of you who recall the last time that double breasted suits and sports coats were in fashion may remember the boxy cut it inevitably came with. Fear not, that cut has gone. In its place is one that defies what double breasted suits were originally designed to do: hide a plump figure. Instead they're now designed to accent and to heighten the perfect masculine shape: the V-shaped, well worked body.Incidentally, if you're still in possession of a double breasted suit from an earlier era, take it off to your tailor to refresh its life.

New  Era  of  NaiL  Art  Trends.....

Nail art, the practice of painting decorative designs on your fingernails, is a fun way to brighten up your everyday look or accessorize a special occasion outfit. There are a variety of nail art designs available, ranging from subtle and understated to funky and outrageous. For example, you could choose to paint flowers on your nails for a date or spell out the name of your favorite athletic team on the day of the big game. While the more intricate designs are best left to a professional, it’s possible to create simple nail art at home.

Fashion Trends for Men

Nowadays, most people chase fashion and always try to keep up with it, sorry to say, but most of them (Mostly Men) fall out looking Lame and Not Good. Here are a few tips which you should follow when you go out.

Where are you going:

Where you are going is very important when you dressup, suppose you are going to a friend's marriage, if you go wearing a T-Shirt and a three-quarter, you will not only look like a total jerk, but i am sure that your friend will act like he doesnt know you at all. When you dressup, ask yourself where you are going, is it a Formal place or event like a job-interview, your friend's marriage, your family member's or friend's marriage anniversary, a date where your girlfriend is wearing a saree, etc. or is it a informal place or event, like a class, hanging out with friends, concerts, etc. If you arent so sure about if the event or place is formal or informal, think about what other people are supposed to wear in there. If others wear formal get-up you better get into a formal getup.

What is Formal Getup?

The formal getup is simply the getup people in corporate offices wear, okay dont get scared, you dont have to wear a suit/ a blazer and all that. Wear a formal shirt (Preferably, long sleeved) and a pair of formal pants, make sure that your shirt is neatly tucked into the pants, if you are wearing a long sleeved shirt, make sure you are buttoned up near the wrists. And for God's Sake, please dont wear a sandle or a vance or a converse with those pants, try wearing a shoe that matches up with the colour of your pants. You can wear a tie if you feel like wearing one, but its not a must.
Best Colour Combinations for Formal Getup:
Dark Blue Shirt, Black Pants, Black Shoes.
White Shirt, Black Pants, Black Shoes.
White Shirt, Brown Pants, Brown Shoes.
Black Shirt, Brown Pants, Brown Shoes. (PLEASE DONT WEAR BLACK SHIRT, WITH BLACK PANTS, BLACK SHOES, And END UP LOOKING LIKE THE MEN IN BLACK!!!!)

The Best places to get Formal shirts and pants are: ARTISTI, WESTECS, CATS EYE, MENZ CLUB, INFINITY.

Oh, and I almost forgot, Panjabees are also very good choices to wear in a formal event.

What is Informal Getup?

I am sure you already know what an informal getup, its the things you wear in a regular day when you get out, but there are some things about informal getup that most people dont know.

Informal Shirts

This is where most men seriously needs help, I go out everyday and i watch men watching tight shirts, and shirts with wacked out designs on them and thousands of ripples and shades and tears and glitters on the shirt, and most of them think that girls look at them because they look HAWT!! but the reality is, they just look weird and most girls are disgusted by their appearances. THE MOTTO OF DRESSING UP SHOULD BE TO KEEP IT SIMPLE AND NOT LOUD, whenever you get out their to buy a informal shirt, look for the design on the shirt and make sure its not too loud. Also make sure the design is simple(Checkers, Stripes) and not like a crow walked over it with inks on its claws. Make sure the colour combinations is simple, AND PLEASE NEVER BUY SHIRTS THAT GLITTER, UM GONNA KILL MYSELF IF YOU READ THIS ARTICLE AND STILL BUY ONE!!!!!!!!!
The best places to buy informal shirts are : O2, WESTECS, ECSTASY, DOORS, OCCULT and others.....

T-Shirts

Any type of T-Shirt you wear is cool, just make sure that it doesnt glitter, torn, ripped, too tight or things like that.. the coolest kinds of T-Shirts are the one with statements on it, just dont wear a T-Shirt that has a very common statement like "Make Me Horny" or "Make me Happy", wear something new and different. When you wear a T-Shirt inside a shirt and leave the shirt unbuttoned, make sure the T-Shirt has a nice design in front.

Pants

Most guys need real help in these case, PLEASE DONT WEAR TIGHT JEANS, that is a rule that you should always abide by, the fashion of tight jeans were gone during the 1970s, wear jeans that are a bit baggy (NOT TOO BAGGY), with good-looking shades, if you dont like shades, then just wear an one coloured jeans, but whatever you do just keep it simple.

In case of three-quarters, well, any kind of three quarters is okay, but the best ones are the ones with checkers.

Belts:

Never wear belts with big dials with LEVIS,G-Unit or anything written on them, remember you are not JOHN CENA, and these are totally out of fashion.

Footwear

The trend of Converse is long gone, now its time to wear Vans, Vans' are really cool to look at and come with awesome designs and colours. Most branded shops are going to charge you too high for a pair of Vans, but if you want them in cheap, go looking for them in Elephant Road, Bata Signal. You will get them in prices around tk. 1200-2500.
If you dont like wearing something heavy on your feet, wear slipper-like sandals, they are awesome all-terrain, all-weather, sandals and you can wear them in all informal getups. They are really cheap, you will get them in almost everywhere.

Wear what you feel comfortable in:

Its worthless going out fashionable and being uncomfortable, colours matters a lot in case of comfort, dont wear dark colours in heat, and always note the material of a clothing when you buy it.

The Mughal era of bride...........

The Mughal era in India brought richness to textiles and costumes, the Ari work or Zardosi work is a type of hand embroidery to be introduced in medieval times during the governance of Muhammed Bin Tughlak. The embroidery done on silk sarees, satin is known as Zardosi. Zardosi work is done by laying the color threads mostly gold threads over the material and is very heavy when the weight of the fabric and the metal wire used for embroidery are combined. Zardosi sarees displayed the beauty that combined with wealth, but today other metals are used instead of gold.
The earlier artisans of zardosi used only exclusive Resham thread and wire hand embroidery on materials. The designs were original or mainly made according to the current trends are of royal taste. Zardosi work purely display the Wealth in the garments worn by men and women.
Today, the Zardosi Sari, Zardosi Designs is well-known and fashionable hand embroidery and purely reflect the traditions. Zardosi Embroidery is the results of amazing talent in the designs and needlework. It has also become a part of the Indian bridal couture. The Bollywood is also not behind to accept Zari Zardosi work to reflect its richness, whether she may be a Madhuri dixit in didi tera devar deewana songs or Hema malini in Baghban.
Zardosi Designs and Zardosi Sarees is well know to the world. The zardosi karigar or Zardosi artisan sits on the floor behind the wooden equipment working on a piece of saree or cloths held taut with two long pieces of wood and thread to enable him to work easily. The speed, at which hands move, with a small pancil like curved needle at the tip, is simply amazing. “This frame we use to tie the cloth so that the material is stiff while we are doing the handwork or embroidery” says Mohini. Zardosi work requires lot of patience and skill that is the reason it is costlier than any other garments. Every needle is generally given numbered such as numbered nine etc.
Most of the zardosi workers or zardosi karigar in Navsari are women. These women can be trained on the job. This is an effort to make women financially independent. An average women zardosi workers or zardosi karigar can earn upto 1000 to 4000 in a month.
Zardosi design is charged as per the design and the material used for handwork or embroidery. They use variety of material zari, sequence, coree, beeds, or the shiny stones which look like diamonds. The zardosi work is designed according to the need or budget. Simple zardosi work charged less than heavy zardosi work. For bridal wear, the budget costing from ten thousand to twenty thousand.
The materials used to do the Zardosi work are bought from the main city market at wholesale rates. The material is also varies from quality to quality. The small work takes a day to be completed, where the exclusive work takes take up to ten days.
